It has become pertinent to respond to the allegations making the rounds recently submitted at a press conference organized by the Kogi state government in a bid to salvage its already smudged and dainted image in the eyes of the world.

 

The press conference which held on the 10th of July 2023 picked on the sensibilities of the Social Democratic Party and Nigerians once again by alluding and drawing a connection between them and the late hardened criminal in person of Kabir Bala who was extrajudicially eliminated by the police at the behest of the state government led by Gov. Yahaya Bello.

 

Even as hard as the government tries to launder its image by throwing blames and trying to tie innocent people to their own crime, the reality still stares them in the face. The mirror is sparkling clean reflecting the image of their own malfeasances right back at them.

 

Any halfsmart person would add one and two together to know that the said criminal was the kogi state’s property whom they got tired of and eliminated.

 

Simple questions to be posed at the commissioner of information are that concerning why the hardened criminal was granted pardon in the first place just a few months to the end of his prison term knowing the history of atrocities he was convicted for. Why did they rush to release him from prison few months to the 2018 elections? Why not after?  

 

Secondly, we were told he was said to have been involved in the killing of the late Salome, gruesomely burnt inside her house alongside the whole building, yet one Ocholi Edicha was convicted, despite claiming innocence, for the same crime in 2020 by the same government and currently serving a jail term of 12years. This ambiguity and cheap lies would not pass a kindergarten test.

If the government had insight, evidence and intelligence about the involvement of Bala in the murder then, why was he not prosecuted alongside Edicha as well?

 

When did they get wind that he, Bala Kabir, was the killer of the PDP’s woman leader? When was he found guilty and prosecuted? Or do the dead now confess their crimes?

 


Because it will only mean that they got wind of his confession long before now and went ahead to convict somebody else, or the dead body of Bala confessed to them after he was killed.

 

The truth however is quite clear, Bala was useful to the government at “taming” and terrorizing the opposition, services then that were very dear to them but having lost out of favor with his benefactors, his pardon was revoked and subsequently killed.

 

The Social Democratic Party is a party guided by its motto of social justice, peace and progress, something that has been alien to the people of Kogi state since the advent of this government.

 

Convinced by the sheer lack of respect for human life and effluvium emanating from this particular extrajudicial killing, we were forced to call on the national and international communities, organizations of interest and general public alike to register their distaste at the rate at which human life, be it owned by a criminal or just anybody, has found no respect whatsoever in kogi state.

 

It would have served the general public more good if these sets of people were brought to book, more intelligence extracted from them, their accomplices nabbed and a thorough investigation carried out while the justice system mete out justice as appropriate within the ambit permitted by the law. This would have served to be proactive against future occurrences and deterrent to people excogitating in the same direction.

 

It is germane, therefore, that the Social Democratic Party in preparation to take over Lugard house, begin to show servant leadership traits to the people of kogi state by questioning some of the untoward actions of the current government in a bit to assure them that things would be done differently when it finally kicks off running the affairs of the state.

 

Furthermore, it is important that the accusation of the state government against the party supporters be dismissed with the wave of the hand as everybody in kogi state knows who released the said Bala from prison, allowed him a free hand to terrorize citizens, watched him amass ill gotten resources to build businesses for the past 5 years and when he wasn’t useful anymore, took him out in the most despicable extrajudicial manner.

 

This is to set the record straight.

ALHAJI MURITALA YAKUBU AJAKA WAS INDEED A STUDENT OF BAREWA COLLEGE.

Barewa College, Zaria Kaduna State has confirmed that Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka was indeed a student of the school.  Reaching to an earlier letter which the school was reported to have written in response to an enquiry to verify his history  in the school the Principal Mallam Alhassan Isyaku apologised that there was an inadvertent a mix up. The letter addressed to the Chairman of the Kogi East EldersForum, Chief Gabriel Aduku, said its earlier response was an error of omission.  "After additional investigation of our archieved records I confirm that the Muritala Yakubu with registration number 14667 was a student of the college from 1996 to 1998.
